Family Hikes Near St George
The Archeology trail is located at Zion National Park and has a length of just 04 miles. It’s a short hike, ideal if you’re on a family getaway.
Don’t worry about what time is better to do this hike, because you can enjoy it any time of day, and it’s safe! This trail will lead you to a prehistoric building exhibition that will blow your mind; it also has beautiful mountain views that surround the hike.
Extra information: you’re not allowed to camp, no bikers allowed, and no water resources available.
This trail offers beautiful sceneries and an impressive variety of wildlife, making it a great option for a family outing. It’s located in the Paradise Canyon Area and has everything you could want from a hiking trail. With a length of 1.9 miles, it’s just a 9-minute drive from St George.
If you’re planning to travel with your furry friend, this should be your hiking pick because you’re allowed to enter with your pets and it’s a great place to walk your dog! Because of the length, it’s a great, easy hike near St George!
The Cottontail is a short and easy trail with a loop route. While trying this trail you should take some time to appreciate the great view of the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve and the flowers in the area.
The best time to do this trail is in the morning and you’re allowed to take your dog, but don’t forget that they have to be on a leash. It’s a dirty single track with some sandy parts, and at 6.2 miles away from St. George, it’s approximately a 13 minute drive.
Dino Cliffs Dinosaur Tracks
Calling all dinosaur lovers!!! We have the best hiking trail for you! Dino Cliff Dinosaur Tracks. At first, it might be a little sandy but after some walking, you will arrive at a solid trail. Continue walking on the trail because it will lead you right down to the dinosaur tracks.
Normally, it will take between 15 to 35 minutes to complete the hike; then you can stay more time at the dinosaur tracks to admire and take pictures. It’s 15 minutes from St. George. You should consider that bikers and equestrians are allowed on this track, so be careful if you’re visiting with younger kids.
PS: You’ll find approximately 17 well-preserved dino tracks presumed to be from Grallator, Kayentapus, and Eubrontes dinosaurs.
Emerald Pools LowerTrail
This is part of a 3 pool trail located in Zion National Park. This is the first and only one with an easy level, so it’s perfect if you’re on a family trip. This trail starts at the Zion Lodge and has a length of 1.2 miles.
One of the most incredible things about the lower part of the pools is that it has access for strollers and also for people in wheelchairs. It will take you about an hour to complete this hike.
PS: You aren’t allowed to enter the pools, but it’s a nice view and you can take some pictures.
